A podcast and a plea for help

18 Plays is up for the Texans game.  You can listen in the embedded player below, you can subscribe via Itunes, or you can just download it right here.

In a fit of drunken inspiration, resident Patriots fan JC wrote me with a nice idea.  Though I'm sure he won't remember doing so this morning, he suggested it would be "fun" to have fans share their favorite Colts/Pats game memories.  Though I don't usually go in for JC's ideas about "fun", in this case, I agree.  So if you have a favorite Colts/Pats experience (and it can be even an old school Colts/Pats game from before the Manning/Brady era), send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (don't put it in the comments here).  I'll put together the best submissions and post them on Sunday morning.  If you contribute something we use and haven't yet gotten an official program from Super Bowl XLI, we'll send you one as a prize.  Someday, I'll run out of those and then who knows what we'll do.

Enjoy this game Sunday.  Sure, we'll play another one next year since there is little chance either team loses the division lead, but there are only so many of these clashes left.  In 20 years all people will remember about this decade is Brady/Manning.  Soak it all in.  These are special games.

Running Addai three times to go the Super Bowl.

Remember when that was even a possibility?
Re: The fumble/touchback play

I'm pretty sure that the ruling on the field was a fumble out of bounds at the 1 yard line, not a fumble out of bounds. I think that factored heavily into the call.

My understanding was the ruling was down by contact.

I could be wrong.

Good point, though, Cass. On a tricky play like this the ruling on the field will factor heavily into the final ruling.

Yes, the ruling on the field was no fumble. They then determined on review that it was a fumble. As it turns out, Powers didn't quite have his 2nd foot down to re-establish himself in bounds, so had he recovered on the 1, it would've been Texans ball on the fumble out of bounds, but since it was in the end zone, it was a fumble out of the end zone, since by still being out of bounds, he ended the play by touching the ball. So while he tried to do the right thing, he didn't, but by screwing up, he helped the Colts.

On another note, the ref for this Sunday is Green. Last year he was on the bottom half in # of penalties called and had the 3rd lowest total yards in penalties. I am not sure which team this helps more. Probably them, since Moss will catch passes even if being held, Moss pushes off, and everyone holds Freeney. Damn it. Then again, whenever the Colts get the refs that call the most penalties, they somehow commit twice as many as the other team. Meh. Whatever. No fan of either team likes watching a game full of flags, so thank god the Pats have already had Winter and Carey this year (though Carey actually doesn't throw THAT many statistically. Just seems like he is always putting himself on TV.)
D'oh.

I meant to say, "the ruling on the field was a fumble out of bounds at the 1 yard line, not down by contact." I think you guys knew what I meant though.

Just out of curiosity, how are you two able to do a podcast together when you're thousands of miles apart?

DZ is close friends with God. He borrows his omnipresence for the podcast.
