Dom Rhodes cut in Buffalo...Indy next?

The news is that Dom Rhodes didn't make the Bills squad. First, that's sad for Dom.  He's a Classic Colt waiting to happen, and we wish him the best, but there's a bigger story here.

Assuming Dom is healthy, the Colts HAVE to take a serious look at him as their third running back.  Dom knows the system, and is a superior option to the perpetually banged up Mike Hart and the ineffectual Chad Simpson and Lance Ball.  Ball and Simpson averaged 2.5 and 2.8 YPC respectively this preseason.  Mike Hart is a fan favorite, but is coming off a blown ACL and battled injuries all preseason.  He had 1 carry for zero yards.

Dom Rhodes had 19 carries for 64 yards (3.4 YPC).  That's not awesome, but it's essentially what he did last year.

As a third string back, he's a better option right now than anything the Colts currently have on the roster.

Have to agree

As much as I like Hart and hope that he can make a contribution to this team down the road. I agree we should grab Rhodes. He's a known commodity, and at the veteran minimum which I assume we could get him at a good value for the Colts. Hopefully the Colts can stash Hart on the PS, and see if he can get healthy enough to make a contribution later in the season.

He was also very productive as a receiver.
Dominic

Not a huge Dominic fan .... . .but he could be a great addition to the Colts if they can get him at the league minimum.

I would love to see Chad Simpson make it as a return man. He wasn't spectacular; but at least he was steady. It seems like every time they kick to TJ Rushing, he bobbles the ball. He usually keeps control; but it isn't a solid catch. Simpson seemed to have a good grasp on the ball when he received it; even if his runs were average.

Hey, Welcome aboard!

It's always great to have overseas fans. This is a good site to come to to find out about Colts history.

First, the current Colts are a perennial contender. The team is on a record run of winning seasons, and won the championship after the 2006 season.

I would recommend the following articles to help you understand the Colts:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_Colts

Then check our "Fixtures" Side Bar. You can find out about the best games, the greatest games, the toughest losses, as well as some of the Classic Colts.
I hadn't considered that idea.

I like it. Rhodes is a good back, and I have to believe he would have no problem coming back here and being the 3rd back.
Thanx DZ

Well, we are glad to have you on board. The Colts are one of the most exciting (and best) teams to follow. We have the single best player in the league (Peyton Manning), so enjoy the season!

I would love to have Dom back. I'd like to see him retire a Colt. You think he would be willing to be the 3rd back?

My Brother is a friend of Dom and his girl friend, Lea. My bro spent alot of time with him, believe it or not, playing Maddens 2010 and they had alot of time to talk. He didn't want to leave the Colts. His kids were in school here and thats tough on a family. I also spent some time with them one day in his kitchen and they are just normal people trying to do the right thing. Yes he has made some mistakes in the past but, who hasn't. I don't think anyone knows but, he hurt his foot toward the end of last season and not sure if that might have been what caused him to be cut.
