The Colts landed a viscious haymaker to start the bout and rope a dope'd away, blast Miami everytime the hands slip. Then, not content just to be outboxed, Miami decided to lower the gloves to taunt. 30 yards, about as far as Chad could probably throw now, and the air of inevitability sets in. A lot of other teams might have let the ball bounce into the air and have a juggle off but not Indy. This wasn't their first rodeo, they have had the chips be down against them, and as everyone thinks this taunt may slip by unnoticed and time will annoint Miami the winners, BAM! Bethea with the interception. A haphazard crashing left hook out of nowhere turns the lights down.

So Indy might not be the Kings of the World (yet), but the undisputed Kings of the AFC South is like the sweet ring of the bell, signalling another challenger vanquished.

Anonguy, the boxing bits worked, but what is a juggle off? Rodeo? And "chips are down" is pretty general, I know, but based on poker.

Only made a bit weirder by the idea of the two teams not being able to decide who might catch it.

And yeah, the chips are down generally refers to the situation of being low on chips. It's not quite that good, but it was one of those rambling 1 AM posts that sort of smashed itself together.

Except the boxing stuff, which I had intended all along, but the boxing metaphors are easy to run out off, so some stock has to be brought out. Should have went there instead of making one up.

I disagree that on other QB could have done it.

Others could have done it, but it would have been flukey luck.

I agree that pretty much manning would be about the only qb around to win this game. As a side note I know last week there was the big to do about how do you know if you had to "rely on a qb" to win the game. I think an even better stat than 30 points given up and way better than 50 passing attempts is overcoming X amount of points given up per drive. Maybe something like 2.5-3? Obviously Brady, Brees, etc are going to have a better record when their defense gives up 30 points they have 2-3 more possessions to work with.

Anyway, great game. The defense needs to sure up the running game, we will see what type of adjustments coyer can make. Hopefully sanders/powers will help the overall defense get off the field quicker, although i guess you couldn't get any slower at getting off the field. Thank goodness we don't have to face the mia wildcat again. Although I wouldn't be surpised to see it a little more often from some of the other teams. Thankfully next week probably won't be one of those weeks.

Kuharsky seemed to think other teams might now try the wildcat against the Colts. I doubt it. Miami made it look good because they knew the system back and front. I don't think it is the kind of thing you can just try one week at random and expect it to succeed.

What a great game to backup the earlier posts about QB's carrying their team. This was the picture perfect example of a QB carrying his team, on the same week that Brady could not get a win against a rookie QB. If nothing else settles that debate, the fact that not only did Peyton pull this off, but that it seemed typical. When we got the ball back with 4 minutes left, everyone knew we'd score. Oh man do I love me some Peyton Manning.

The picture is pretty fitting for the Colts, if not just for Manning. Ali's rope-a-dope technique amounted to the same thing as last night. The opponent had 75% of the offense with little affect. Ali scored big with very little time.
